Meaning

Any of three closely related species of moderately large macropods, intermediate in size between the kangaroos and the wallabies.

Etymology

Origin: Unknown

Borrowed from Dharug walaru. Not, in fact, a blend of wallaby and kangaroo, although the fact that wallaroos are between wallabies and kangaroos in size may lead to that assumption.
